The first half of the autumn term is often one of the most challenging periods of the school year, and this year has been no exception. Despite increasing workload pressures, budget challenges, recruitment and retention issues, and the day-to-day demands of supporting children and young people, school staff across Wirral have continued to go above and beyond.
As a union, we are proud of the solidarity, professionalism and determination shown by our members. Whether you’ve been standing up for colleagues, supporting pupils, attending meetings, taking on rep roles, or simply getting through another busy week in school, your contribution matters.
Now is the time to take a well-earned break. We hope you can use the half-term holiday to rest, recharge and spend time with family and friends before the next phase of the term begins.
While you’re enjoying the break, please also save the date for our next Wirral NEU District Meeting on Thursday 26 November. District meetings are an important opportunity to hear the latest union updates, discuss local and national issues affecting education, and help shape the work of your union. We encourage all members to come along and get involved.
Thank you for your continued support and solidarity.
Have a great half term and we’ll see you on 26 November.
In solidarity,
Michael Farrelly
