Save Education: Why This Campaign Matters

Education is at a crossroads.

Schools across the country are facing increasing financial pressures, while staff continue to work tirelessly to provide the best possible education for every child. Years of stretched budgets have left many schools struggling to maintain staffing levels, support services and resources.

The Save Education campaign is about standing up for our schools, our students and everyone who works in education.

Fair Pay and Full Funding

Educators deserve pay that recognises the vital role they play in society. However, pay rises must be accompanied by the funding needed to deliver them.

When governments announce pay awards without providing sufficient additional funding, schools are often forced to find the money from their existing budgets. This can result in difficult decisions, including reducing staff numbers, cutting resources or scaling back support for pupils.

The NEU believes schools should not be forced to choose between fair pay for staff and the quality of education they provide.
