Vote YES on school funding, pay and to protect the right to strike

On 2nd March to all NEU teacher members will be asked to vote in a preliminary strike ballot over school funding and pay.
This will be sent via email and text and we need as many members as possible to vote.
The ballot is being launched because the government has:
Failed to put any funding into schools for a teacher pay rise from September. This will mean cuts to school budgets.
Failed to ensure our pay is not cut again compared to prices. They are pushing for another below inflation award.
Decided to try and ban school strikes so we cannot push them back on school funding and improving recruitment and retention like we did last year.
We need to show this government and any future government that our education system requires investment and resources.
A successful ballot by the largest education union in the country will mean our schools and our pupils needs are a key factor in the upcoming general election.
Talk to your colleagues and make sure there is a union meeting in your school prior to the 2nd March. Every vote counts.
| How do we win this ballot? |
| We need as many members as possible to vote and vote yes. A meeting of NEU members in every school is the best way to ensure all members understand how important this vote is and that we need to act together. Your branch can help you set up a meeting if you haven’t got a school rep or even if you do and need some support. We expect once again most headteachers will recognise how difficult the funding situation is and will be happy to allow time at briefings or staff meetings for union updates and reminders. Try and find one person in each department, year group or key stage to remind other colleagues and let your rep know who has voted. |

In preparation for a strike ballot, we need to make sure we have the right details for you.
This QR code will take you to the MyNEU web page where you can log in using your membership number and update all the information we hold.
