Presenting the braille machine funded by Wirral NEU and Merseyside Cuba Solidarity Campaign.

In October this year, the NEU sent a delegation to Cuba to learn about their successful education system. This delegation included Steve Adderley from Wirral District. The delegation visited a range of settings from primary schools to vocational colleges including 3 special schools.  At Jose Marti Escuela in Pinar Del Rio, a special school, Steve presented a braille machine to the school. The braille machine was jointly funded by Wirral NEU and Merseyside Cuba Solidarity Campaign. Cuba has been subjected to an illegal blockade by the United States of America for over 60 years. Cuba relies on donations from friendly organisations to overcome the shortages of equipment that are a result of ‘El Bloqueo’.
